Mark Fernand Severin was a Belgian artist and graphic designer.
5 January 1906 at Ixelles, Belgium – 10 September 1987 at Uccle, Belgium
It was with brilliant skill that Mark Severin conducted his career.
Few have managed to attain such stature through simplicity, sincerity and generosity, and few have had such dexterity to assert their talent in the technically demanding realm of graphic art.
Few have tussled so joyfully with metal, ink and paper as Severin.
He was also very much at ease in painting with watercolor and oil. In the art of portraiture, he achieved refinement and likeness of his models and placed them harmoniously in their environment, uncompromisingly combining figure and background into a unified whole.
Moving freely between various media and styles, Severin was always in search of the depth and the inner essence which gives life to his entire oeuvre.
